As the weather forecast didn't look too bad, sunshine and cloud, and around 13 °C, instead of going over to Clumber Park, or into the Peak District for a Sunday walk, we decided to head over to the coast. Cleethorpes, though not our favourite place by a long way, is the nearest to us at around an hour and 10 minutes' drive.

To take advantage of the forecast, the plan was to head out early and try to get there for around 7am to catch the sunrise over the sea, as it is on the east coast. So we were up at 5am, out of the house by 6am, and parked up on the promenade a little after 7am.
The weather, however, didn't play ball, and it was rather cloudy. Nice clouds, though, with lots of definition and great for moody photos. I was at least saying that to myself, until the black clouds overhead meant that we got rained on, and not expecting it, I didn't have my waterproof coat on. Sensible Donna, of course, did. It only lasted about 20 minutes, though, before it was off out to sea.

For the rest of the walk, we moaned about the sun. As we walked back along the promenade, the sun's reflection on the now-wet tarmac was blinding.
As we reached the bottom end of the promenade, where we had parked, it was time to take off my coat, as by now I was sweating somewhat, and we parked our backsides on some outside chairs and had hot drinks and toast. It was around 10:15am, and time to head back.
