After our family trip to Scarborough a few weeks ago, it was great to get another invite to join Jake, Sophie and the girls again on their trip to the Yorkshire Coast.
Plans had changed a couple of times, as originally we had a clash with the decorator coming to do the dining room, but we eventually reverted back to our original Tuesday plan.
We left around the same time, 7:30am, so we were both there around 9:30am, and parked up in what was a quieter-than-expected car park. And as it was fairly quiet, we also managed to get the same part of the beach. This time, however, the tide was quite high, so we didn't have to go far to enjoy the waves. Low tide was mid-afternoon.
As with our last visit, time on the beach went really quickly. We did a lot of digging in the sand, even making ourselves a little boat and a slide out of it. The girls loved it. And of course we spent quite a bit of time in the sea; that said, I didn't go swimming as I had done the last time, as the waves were a little more choppy. Better to be safe than sorry.
The weather was perfect, not too hot, not too windy, and only once did it try to rain. We were prepared for almost every eventuality, storms aside, of course!
Later in the afternoon we packed up, dropped everything off at the cars and had a walk along what was now a busy sea-front. Of course we had to pay a visit to the Harbour Bar for ice-creams, and Olivia did a little shopping whilst Jake, Millie and I just sat for a short while watching passers-by.
Our journeys back home began around 5:30pm; we had to turn around due to the Bridlington road being closed, and Jake & Sophie had a few toilet breaks on the way home, so we all got home around 7:30pm.
A tiring, but lovely family day out.
