Skirlaugh - 27th July 2025

Today was a lovely family day....

Jake and family have come to enjoy staying at the Willow Pastures Country Park near Skirlaugh, over the last couple of years, having become a little dismayed with Haven, and all the noise that comes with it. They prefer somewhere quiet (a bit like me and Donna to be honest), so they can pick and choose whether they go somewhere, or just relax in the hot tub at the chalet.

They had booked for a week, so we asked if we could pop up for half a day to see them, and treat them to lunch.

We arrived around 10am after a really steady Sunday morning drive. Google took us past the entrance though, expecting that we would park up on the country lane and then work our way through the trees to get to their chalet! The entrance was right next to the large garden centre, so we couldn't really miss it once we knew.

For the rest of the morning we just enjoyed the time we spent with Jake, Sophie, Olivia and Millie. It was really nice seeing them outside of their front room.

Jake had booked a table at a restaurant about 5 minutes back down the road, for mid-day as they opened. When we arrived just before 12 it looked a little deserted, but it did soon fill up. We were there for over an hour and a half, and the food was really nice when you consider that it is a large establishment catering for a lot of people. We all had starters and a main course - not the little 'uns of course who just had chicken nuggets.

After heading back to the park, we spent around half an hour in the garden centre, with all it's different shops, and then headed back to the chalet for a drink before setting back home.

The drive back wasn't too bad either, and by 4:45pm I was sat outside with the Sunday newspaper.
