Bamford - 26th July 2025

Not a lot to say about today to be honest, and I didn't take any photos.

There was only myself and Darrell available to walk, and as the forecast was for it to rain, we made sure that we had waterproofs. And of course it didn't disappoint, from the moment that we set off, to opening the car door on our return, it just rained. Not heavily, but just constantly.

We parked up near the dam at the bottom of Ladybower Reservoir, traversed the dam wall and then picked up the Derwent Valley Heritage Way in the direction of Bamford. Although it is quite sheltered on this section of walk, that didn't help us keep dry.

The route back up was along the busy road and through the village of Bamford, in fact we were only walking for a little over 1.5hrs, so not exactly a hard morning.

After drying off, we detoured back via Hathersage for a drink. We decided to try a different cafe, but it was disappointing and it was a little 'lardy dar', no sausage butties, but avocado on toast - you get what I mean. We won't be going back there again!
