Today was a bit of an unusual one, as we managed to get Malc out for a walk with Darrell and me.
Darrell wanted to go to Bakewell for the farmers market, so we met at the church just outside Little Longstone. From there, you have about 3/4 mile across fields until you drop down onto the Monsal Trail. It was dry but overcast, and the fields were very muddy from all the rain we have had recently, so there was quite a bit of slipping about which wasn't great for my knee if I am being honest.

Once you drop onto the trail it is a flat walk as it used to be a railway line until the 60's, and the only frustration is the amount of cycle traffic for which you are forever moving aside. And today there was a run, so lots of runners were also on the path, but mainly for good causes.
We dropped down into Bakewell, and Darrell was gutted. The market was not in the square, so after walking around only to find that it was on the field on the outskirts of the town, the stall he was expecting was not there. So no scotch eggs for Darrell! He wasn't too disappointed though as he likes to drop into the wine stockists on the outskirts of the town for a bottle or two.

We now hit another muddy and very slippy section as we headed down towards the river for the walk across the fields to Ashford-in-the-Water, a beautiful small village with some lovely houses. I was now starting to struggle with walking, well to be honest I had for a while. And, after stopping in a cafe for a hot drink, the guys had to leave me sitting on a bench for around an hour as I could not walk any further as my knee was so bad.
They both came back for me, Darrell mainly as Malc would have gotten lost, and it was into the Tesla for the drive home.
Oh, and no photos today as conditions were drab, I have done the walk so many times before, and my knee was hurting so much I simply couldn't be bothered!
