Man Utd - 7th December 2024

Quite some time ago, Jake was at an awards event and won a couple of hospitality tickets to see a Manchester United game. He was not interested in going, so he asked if I wanted the tickets.

Now I am no Utd fan, but I have a good friend in Manchester, Matt, who is very much a fan. So I said yes to the tickets, checked out the fixtures and arranged with Matt to go.

It was a tea-time kick-off so I left to go to Matt's at around mid-day. I had a coffee on arrival and a look around the work he has had done on his house, he then took his car and we went to Didsbury for a Rudy's pizza. It would no doubt be better than food at the ground.

He then drove over to a street about a 40-minute walk to the ground, as that's about as near as you can get on matchday. Unfortunately, it was throwing it down so we got soaked on the walk to the stadium.

We went into the hospitality area for a drink before the match, then headed out to our padded seats. Matt wasn't a happy bunny as they were well beaten by Nottingham Forest, a result you would not have expected given the squads of both teams.

It was one heck of a crush on the way out, so it took us well over an hour to get back to the car. Then only around 20 minutes back to Matt's, and then a couple of hours home for me. Not a bad day for a freebie.
