Cinderella - 1st December 2024

Now I must be honest, I can't ever remember going to see a Pantomime when Jake was small. That doesn't mean that he never went to one, just that I was probably working so couldn't go.

But now we have two beautiful granddaughters, it's time to go and see what they are all about. Donna had been looking as soon as 'panto season' had started to be advertised and found that Cinderella was on at the Winding Wheel Theatre in Chesterfield. As we have been there on a couple of occasions, we knew the seating style so knew that myself and Jake would be ok for legroom.

So off we went for the 1pm showing on the Sunday. Jake and family arrived a little after we did, so after buying Olivia a light-up star, we headed into the venue to take our seats.

And yes I admit, I really did enjoy it. Lots for the kids, and plenty of jokes for the grown-ups, just the right mix. And with James Jordan coming out for 5 minutes without his top on, definitely something for all the hot-blooded ladies!

What did surprise me however, was that the show lasted almost two and a half hours, so much so that I was panicking about only having paid for 3 hours of parking, would I have a ticket on the windscreen when we got back to the car - thankfully no.

Olivia seemed to have enjoyed it, lots of singing and shouting at the stage, and Millie was an angel. So much so in fact, that after the show someone came up to Jake and commented on how good she had been.

So for my first experience, a qualified success.
