Well, it's around 3 to 4 weeks since I had knee surgery, so it's time to test how my knee would hold up out in the Peaks - a gap of 5 months since my last proper hike.
Neither Darrell nor Tony was available today, so I picked Stuart up on my way to the Peak District; after all, he only lives about 100m from where I would be passing by.

I hadn't planned a long and particularly difficult hike, just around 4 miles and 650 ft of ascent, so it would be a good test to see how my knee stood up. We were a little later today going out, about an hour or so, so by the time we arrived at Curbar Gap car park it was quite busy, although there was a space where we could park.
We headed about 1/2 mile down the hill towards Curbar, then picked up the path across the fields in the direction of Baslow. It was rather muddy here, so slipping and sliding wasn't the best for my knee, but thankfully it held up.
Eventually, we reached the lovely little village of Baslow, a place me and Donna know well as we have stayed in a cottage there a couple of times, and we go for meals at Charlie's every now and again - always great food.

The next section would be a tester, as it's around 1/2 mile straight up the hill to Curbar Edge. And surprisingly it didn't bother me at all, in fact, I didn't even get out of breath as much as I was expecting to after 5 months of not hiking.
We sat down at the top of the hill, and then meandered along Curbar Edge before arriving back at the car park, where we stopped for 20 minutes to have a cuppa. A nice little adventure.
