I have mentioned previously that weekend trips to the Peak District have been much thinner on the ground in 2023 than the last few years, and ones with Donna have been a little like the proverbial 'Rocking Horse' if you know what I am saying.
But, given the forecast for this supposed summer day was quite good for us, not too warm, but dry, and with a nice breeze, it would have been a shame to have missed out.

So as always is the case when it's just us two, it was an early start so we could miss the crowds. We were both awake a little after 5am, and not long after 7:30am we were parked up in the National Trust car park not far from the Grouse Inn near Nether Padley, and crossed the road onto Froggatt Edge.
The first half mile or so is through trees and very tall bracken, and I was being mobbed by flies, they just wouldn't leave me alone, but thankfully entering into the open brought with it some relief.
And the walk itself, there isn't really much to say about it as we have done it so many times before. As often is the case I take the path along the granite edges as we walk south, and then onto the main path for the return leg.

One point to note on the way back was a slight confrontation with a cyclist. Anyone who knows the route knows that the path is probably 10 to 15 feet wide, and shared by both walkers and cyclists. But this one guy came up behind us and expected us to move out of his way, even though we were talking up only about 25% of the path and two other cyclists passed us by. A few words were swapped.
Very frustrating sometimes that some cyclists think that walkers should always move for them!
Anyway, by around 10:45am, we were back at the car and ready for the hour's drive back home, a great way to start the weekend.
