I say local, but today did include a short trip up the coast to Bamburgh. We had planned to get the bus there and then walk back, but both of us had a few aches and pains from our walk yesterday, so instead, we took the car.
The visit did include a walk, just a much shorter one. We parked up on the edge of the village of Bamurgh, beneath it's famous castle, and headed over the dunes onto the beach. Then instead of heading south, we turned north and headed towards the lighthouse, to Stag Rock. There's a little more to see here, some interesting rock formations, the pools formed by the tide, and as mentioned, the lighthouse and Stag Rock.
After heading back towards the village we paid a visit to St Aidans Church, with all the history that it brings. Perhaps most well known for having Grace Darling buried here; the young hero who saved many lives in a storm off the Farne Islands many years ago.
After arriving back at the house around 2pm, we sat down and had a bit of a buffet as we hadn't eaten since breakfast so both of us were a little peckish.
Whilst Donna watched a little TV, did some knitting, and some more packing, I spent a couple of hours at the harbour with my camera. Just enjoying the views and taking a few snaps under the changing light. Not a bad way to end our week.
