Today's forecast was for another windy one, with a good spread of rain mixed in. And as we hadn't really made any plans we decided to head down into Whitby for high tide, well not exactly high tide but near enough.
And boy was it worth the wait. As we crossed the old railway viaduct we could see that the River Esk was raging down towards the sea, and was chocolatey brown due to all the rain that had drained through and off the moors.

Then when we got down to the front, the waves were rolling in and crashing around the harbour walls. Unfortunately, the east pier was closed off, I say unfortunately as the seas on that side were most impressive, but from a safety perspective, it was the right decision.
We spent a good couple of hours just enjoying watching the sea, and of course, I was taking plenty of photos. Then as it was early afternoon and we were both hungry, and we hadn't had fish and chips all week, we headed into Trenchers for lunch. Very nice.
We arrived back at the house mid-afternoon, then set about doing a little packing in readiness for our return home tomorrow. Now time to chill.
