Robin Hoods Bay - 14th November 2022

If I'm being honest, this morning I wasn't really feeling great, my stomach was in knots and I was feeling a little anxious; nothing new there then. But I wanted to get out and get some fresh air and hopefully, it would give me the boost I needed.

However, for the first hour or two, my mood didn't improve that much. We had decided to walk to Robin Hoods Bay along the Cinder Track, one of our regular walks when we stay here, mainly because the old railway line is just 5 minutes from where we are staying. But being totally honest, for much of this walk there isn't a great deal to see this time of year, it's more about the exercise and the end goal of the walk. Which normally is enough, but this morning I needed something to shake me up.

But as we arrived in Robin Hoods Bay my mood started to perk up, apart from the 'toilet issue' where there was no access to both of the loo blocks at the top of the hill, and it was nice to see the bay at low tide right in front of us.

We were both a little peckish so went for lunch at a new place Donna had found, Tea, Toast and Post, a converted Post Office just yards from the slipway. Donna had Garlic Mushrooms on Toast, and I had Yorkshire Rarebit. And no complaints from either of us.

After resting up whilst we dined, we continued down the coast to Boggle Hole, just enjoying the delights that low tide brings. I think it was the first time I had ever seen Cockles attached to the rocks.

Our plan for the return journey was not to walk, so back up the hill from the village bottom to get the bus back to Whitby. Nine pounds for the two of us for a 15-minute journey, and you wonder why people prefer their own transport.

By around 4pm we were back at Buffers, with homemade soup on the menu for tea.
