Our plans for today were to have someone come around this morning, who would give us a quote for our kitchen facelift, and then we would be off to Otley in the afternoon for the rugby. However, as Donna had received a bit of a distress call from her friend Julie, she ended up spending the day helping out with the floristry at a wedding.
So as I had received an invite earlier in the week for a Saturday walk, I messaged my mate Darrell and advised that I would be free after all. Then quickly we rounded up Malc to join us, none of the other lads were free.

I headed over to Malc's at 7:45am, and for the first time in a while, we continued the journey in Malc's car; his old Mercedes that he keeps considering changing but never gets around to it.
We also had a 'big breakfast' on our minds, so we decided to walk a loop starting in Hathersage so that we could end there, and stop off at Cintra's Tearoom, a lovely little cafe that does an excellent breakfast.
Our route took us along the side of the Derwent through rather sodden fields, then into Grindleford before we picked up the road towards the train station. It was then back onto the walking paths as we took the route up through Padley Gorge, which, is still showing some lovely autumn colours in patches and has a good amount of water flowing down it to make some great cascades hidden amongst the rocks.

After crossing over Owler Tor we picked up the main road and walked back down into Hathersage. That last mile or so wasn't the most relaxing due to the traffic noise, but to be honest we didn't really care as we had that plate of bacon, sausages, eggs etc awaiting us at the end of our steady 3-hour walk.
