Wet and Windy - 4th October 2022

Today was a bit of a washout...

But it wouldn't have been if the flipping weather forecasters hadn't been wrong again. It was showing rain all day, so we planned to stay in the house, reading, watching TV, etc etc. But, although very windy and grey overhead there was no rain in the morning. All we did, was take advantage of the downtime to do a shop at Sainsbury's.

So around 1pm we togged up and headed down to the harbour area, hoping to see waves crashing against the harbour wall. And of course, just as we set off, the rains came.

We decided to stay out, we might as well continue to get wet, so we headed up the hill to the hilltop overlooking the harbour. And disappointingly the seas were calm around the harbour, it was the west beach where the winds were strongest. Which of course makes sense, you do want your harbour as sheltered as possible.

After a very short venture onto the beach, we turned around as the sand was whipping up and the rain now very heavy, so we stopped off in a small cafe next to the beach for a hot drink. It probably wasn't a great idea as we were both quite warm anyway, so having to tog up again to head out wasn't pleasant.

We ventured back up through the cobbled streets of the town, but now it was more of a race back to the house as it was lashing down. A pattern that was to continue for the rest of the day.....
