How are weather forecasters still in work? I went to bed at 9:30pm last night, the forecast showed rain from 2am to 2pm Sunday afternoon. And of course, we got up this morning to blue skies, which were with us all day!
So, after arising we hastily changed our plans and decided to make the most of the good weather and drive the 1hr over to the city of St David's, the smallest city in the UK.
We arrived a tad before 11am, and as it was a Sunday the cathedral was in use for Sunday Service, so instead we paid the entry fee and went into St David's Bishop's Palace, a ruin which dates back to the 6th century, although the ruins we see today are mainly from the 13th and 14th centuries. It was a good way to pass an hour or so.

After finishing our tour, we took the path up past the cathedral up into the city. It didn't really come across as a city, many of the shops were closed and to be honest there wasn't that much there to see. So we grabbed a couple of drinks and sat up above the cathedral and had our packed lunch, just enjoying the view.
And as it was now almost 1pm, the cathedral opened to the public for 2hrs, so we paid £5 each as a contribution and spent a good amount of time looking around the stunning building. What was odd was that the floor sloped 14 feet from one end to the other, and many of the large internal walls intentionally leant outwards. The reason for the walls, to support the original stone roof.

It was now 2pm so off to our last stop of the day, just a 15 minute or so drive away. We paid another £5, for the parking at Whitesands Beach, a lovely flat open beach very popular with the types that enjoy watersports. Whilst we weren't doing anything that exciting, we did remove our shoes and walked along the edge of the beach with the sea lapping our feet, and boy was it a little chilly.
Our journey back took us along quite a few very narrow country lanes, that's what Google Maps tends to do for the shortest route. Not though, always the safest. By the time we arrived back at the cottage it was around 5pm so time to cook a Sunday lunch.
