Not a bad day today on the weather front. Ok, mainly cloudy but the odd break casting a few rays of autumn sunshine over our faces. Over Snowdonia though, it did look rather grey and cloudy.

So today, a trip over to the east coast of the island, about a 45-minute drive. We started off with a visit to Waitrose in Menai Bridge, before parking up in the car-park next door and then took the short walk downhill to the shores of the Menai Strait. Our walk took us out onto the small Church Island, then up along the promenade to the suspension bridge. As always, the 'swellies' out in the strait are a sight to see, powering down the strait and under the great arches of the bridge. Not a waterway to take lightly.
Next stop was Beaumaris, we were only there for about an hour but it's a nice place for a stop-off if you have never been. I always enjoy the walk onto the small pier with the views across to the mountains. It's also a popular day-trip place for the older generation, so expect queues for all the cafes.

The main reason we wanted to head over that way was to go to Penmon Point. We have been there each time we have been to the island, it's a great spot with lots to see, a lighthouse, a large red lighthouse-shaped marker on Perch Rock, and views to Puffin Island which is just off the coast. We were also hoping to see Porpoise or Dolphins, as we have seen before, so I was armed with the binoculars but no luck today. Donna did see a seal, but it only came on show on one occasion so we didn't get the chance to follow it's exploits.
We had spent a couple of hours there, before heading back up along the island to Cemaes Bay. Newspaper and hot tub for me, feet up for Donna.
