It's been so long since I added a post to my blog, to be honest, I haven't been out hiking much over the summer as Donna nor I are keen on the heat, and on the odd occasion when we have, I just haven't had the motivation to write anything.
However, today was the August bank holiday, and the weather was not looking warm or sunny in the slightest, so we headed out nice and early.

We left home a little before 6am, the earliest for a few years, so by 6:40am we were parked up in the car-park next to Burbage Bridge. Although it was a little dull when we left home, the skies were even darker out here. We set off and 5 minutes later when we felt a few spots of moisture, we were back at the car.

Instead of heading back home we decided to sit it out for 15 minutes, and although it didn't come much brighter, light levels did increase a tad and the air did not carry the droplets of earlier. The area we were planning to walk, up over Higger Tor and around Carl Wark is normally blooming in purple heather this time of the year, but given that the peak was probably a couple of weeks ago, and with the leaden skies, it did look a tad dull in most places.
We still enjoyed our two-and-a-half-hour walk, it was a steady one and we only did a few miles, but it was nice to blow away the cobwebs.
