Moving in Day - 1st July 2022

And so it arrived, the day that Jake would move into his first house.

He had spent the last 12 months or so looking for somewhere, viewing properties, putting in offers, setting up his finances, and making plans with Sophie as to where would be a good place to live, given their future plans. In the end, a house came back on the market after originally being sold, and Jake managed to get it for £15k below what it had previously been sold for; so a bit of a result.

Jake would be spending much of the day driving around in the van that he had hired for the day, myself and Donna would be cleaning and doing a few other jobs, and Sophie would be starting to make the place a home. We spent most of the day at the house, at least until early evening, but Jake didn't finish driving around collecting, with his mate Danny until going on 10pm.

There was a lot to do, the house had been owned by an elderly couple, and it was very much decorated as such. Floral carpets and wallpapers, old-fashioned fittings, and lots of wood paneling, particularly in the kitchen where the majority of the work would need to be done going forward. The house would be a 'work in progress', for quite some time, but given the fact that it has had a couple of small extensions over the years, space would not be an issue. One of the reasons that they were drawn to it.

Over the next week or so we would spend quite a bit of time there with Jake and Sophie, lots of jobs for us to do. More cleaning, light fittings to replace, sockets to make safe, trees to cut down, a drive and patio to jet-wash, so much to do. Plenty to keep people busy for some time to come.
