Return from Bamburgh - 10th March 2022

Another very windy day today, but, another dry and sunny one so there's no complaining from us. It's been a great week on the weather front.

We left the cottage at 10:30am for the mile walk to the bus stop, hopefully, today we would be luckier than yesterday when the bus was not at the time we were expecting. And thankfully it was, the 418 rolled up at the bus stop in Beadnell at a little past the scheduled 11:05am.

Our destination was only a 20 minute drive up the coast, the beautiful village of Bamburgh with its imposing castle overlooking the sea from one side, and guarding over the village on the other side.

The first half of the walk down to Seahouses is around 4 miles and all along the open expanse of the Bamburgh beach with its views out to the Farne Islands, just a few miles off-shore. It took us a steady 2hrs or so, and by the time we arrived in Seahouses we were ready for lunch, so stopped off in a cafe for about 30 minutes; Panini for me and a Ciabatta for Donna.

Now normally when we do this walk we head out around the golf course and follow the beach back down to Beadnell, but if I am being honest I was a little tired today so we just took the path alongside the main road. Not as pretty, but easier underfoot so by around 3:30pm we were back at the cottage.

It wasn't our last outing of the day as early evening we set off onto the beach and harbour to enjoy the last light of the day and to watch the waves hitting the shoreline, a nice ending to another enjoyable day.

And on to tomorrow, not much planned so no blog post in the offing. Just a couple of hours walking locally and then a steady afternoon planned.
