The Bay - 25th January 2022

A steady half-day ahead today, we decided early in the morning that we would stick around the cottage for the morning and just let time pass us by. It was very grey outside so the pull to go out wasn't that great anyway.

We spent the morning just chilling out on the sofa's, reading and drinking hot drinks; well at least I was drinking multiple hot drinks, just the one Baileys hot chocolate for Donna. Lunch at the cottage was on the menu, before heading out for a few hours.

The plan was to have walk down to Whitby seafront, but instead, we opted for a short drive up the coast to Runswick Bay; somewhere we hadn't been for many years. In fact, I think my last visit was my only visit.

It was close to low tide when we arrived, so we had all of the beach to explore. Lots of hunting amongst the shingle for coloured glass, interesting stones, and any fossils that we may come upon. And we did see quite a few small fossils in the rocks, nothing exciting but enough to make the hunt worth it.

We were both well wrapped up as it was rather nippy out there today, a cold breeze keeping the already low temperature chilling through your bones. Thankfully Donna did bring a spare scarf along so I took full advantage of it, and boy was it needed.

On the way back there was a detour over to Sainsbury's, and by a little before 5pm we were back 'home'.
