Now you might expect this blog post to be telling tales of robbing the rich to give to the poor, but alas, it's just about our walk to Robin Hoods Bay.
We had decided to walk there and back today, taking the Cinder Track which runs right behind the cottage. It's a 12-mile round-trip, but the walking is steady so it's not too taxing a hike. In fact, the most stressful part of the walk is constantly having to move out of the way of other walkers, of cyclists, of runners, basically all types of people sharing the path.

Our plan was to see the bay at high tide, as almost all the time we go there, it's low tide. Yes, a little disadvantageous not being able to scour the rockpools, but just nice to sit and look out over the sea without a care in the world, watching the waves crash against the shoreline.
Before setting off on our return journey we had lunch in a little cafe on the main street, not one I had ever even noticed before, but speaking to the owner, he said it had been open for 12 years! A light lunch as we were expecting to be going out for a meal later.
The walk back was at a fair pace, we did the 6 miles in 2hrs flat so quite good going for a couple of relative oldies. And by 3:30pm we were back at the cottage.

Unfortunately though, even though we had both gotten ready to head out to the Italian restaurant, when we phoned just as they opened they had no availability at all. Frustrating as they are not open the first half of the week so you can't phone and book. However, if we were prepared to go as soon as they open on Friday (5pm) then they had a table available. So we booked it.
So instead of a nice meal out, it was quiche for me and crackers and pate for Donna. You can't complain though.
