Langsett Reservoir - 16th January 2022

A walk with the lads today, well three of them at least. Darrell, Tony, and Malc were all available, and Darrell was having knee problems so wasn't too bothered about having to do anything too strenuous. So Langsett was the walk of choice, a walk I had done with Donna a good few years ago.

Although Langsett is probably as far as the crow flies as many of the places in the Peak District, because much of the route there is up the M1 it only takes around 30 minutes to get to the car-park. Therefore I was able to grab an extra 15 minutes at home before setting off, I arrived around 7:45am and to my surprise I was actually the last one there!

And the weather forecast was a little wrong as usual, it was predicted to be cloudy when in fact we had gorgeous clear skies with a little frost on the ground. It did however change later and not long before we finished the 9 mile walk, it had started to spot with rain a little, but nothing to write home about.

The route took us around the southern side of both Langsett and Midhope reservoirs, before dropping down the hill towards the Little Don River where we could pick up the path in a westerly direction. I say path, more of a muddy trail.

After crossing the dam wall in what was now very windy conditions, the surface of the reservoir looked more like the north sea, we took the route through the trees along the banks of Langsett and by 11:30am we were back at the cars.
