The next part of our holiday would take us through the Eastfjords and down to the small town of Hofn, we had a nice lodge on the outskirts.
On our way down, as well as thoroughly enjoying all of the stops for photos, we stopped off at a place called Green Rock, where unsurprisingly, there is an outcrop of, you guessed it, green rock. Whilst there we even managed to save the 'life' of a sea urchin which was stuck without water, but started moving again once I had moved it into a pool.

We also dropped by at the red chair that is set into rock by the main road, no idea why but I assume there is some story behind it. And then about 5 minutes further on, we drove along the gravel track followed by a 15 minute walk to Skutafoss, a lovely double waterfall with a large cave right next to it.
We only really had one full day in the area, so the plan was to go to Vestrahorn and then down to Jokulsarlon, and the Diamond Beach.
When we arrived at Vestrahorn, to be honest the weather wasn't that great. Not bad, but just grey with some drizzle every now and then. It didn't stop us taking a hike around the area, but didn't do much for the photos. On our way back along the peninsula we were surprised to see some horses jumping over the fences around their field and making a bit of a break for it, followed of course by the farm owners.

After a stop at the cafe on the peninsula for a cuppa and some caramel apple cake, we were on our way around the ring road.
It was still foggy when we arrived at Diamond Beach, and to be honest there wasn't as much washed up ice as there has been when we have visited in the past. It's still a sight to see, with chunks of ice washed up on the black sand beach.
We spent much of the rest of the day in the area, walking along the banks of the ice lagoon, watching the seals swimming around and peaking above the water to get a glance of the tourists. And, for lunch we took advantage of the fish and chip van which sold gorgeous fresh cod, and at a reasonable price by Iceland standards. I must admit to being a tad greedy as I also treated myself to a hot dog!

By the time we had driven back along the coast to Hofn, did a little shopping at Netto and then filled up, it was getting dark so time to bed down for the night.
