An overcast day was forecast today, but no rain and average temperatures so a great day for walking. Today it would be myself and Donna, and having done a walk from Eyam a few weeks ago and really enjoying the Tideswell Lane section, I planned a route that would take in that section and then loop back through Foolow.

The route is not a particularly popular one, so given our early start (we left the car-park at 7:45am) it was unlikely that we would bump into many people, and that was the case as we only passed one set of walkers during the whole 6 miles and 3hrs that we were rambling through the countryside.
The Tideswell Lane section of the walk reminds me very much of the walking paths in the Yorkshire Dales, limestone underfoot and flanked by drystone walls. Just very picturesque in my opinion. We passed fields of inquisitive cattle, wary sheep, all just enjoying the tranquility of the countryside.

As we reached Stanley House, we turned at a tight angle for the walk back. We passed through the lovely hamlet of Foolow, then out into the fields for the last mile and a half or so. This last section took us through farmland, climbing over stiles, through narrow gates, and the occasional 'kissing' gate where of course you have to take advantage of it's name.
We arrived back at the car at around 11am, just 1hr 15 minutes and we would be back home.
