Moscar Loop - 11th July 2021

Following on from yesterday's walk with Donna, today was back out to the Peak District but with some friends. And today was the first time we have car shared since the start of Covid, I picked Malcolm up at 7:15am and we met Darrell and Colin near Moscar Lodge at 8am.

I was a little wary parking here as there is nowhere to park other than a small section of verge next to the main A57, which is a busy and quite fast road at the best of times. Thankfully give the time though, it wasn't too bad parking there today.

I had planned a route today where 80% of it I had never walked before, not a long one at around 6.5 miles but it would be enough of a challenge to get the heart pumping.

We headed along the main track across Ughill Moors, an easy to follow route with decent views across the countryside. The weather was a little mixed, it had been glorious sun when I had left home but now a little more variable. There were some quite nice photogenic parts along that section as there was quite a few damaged walls that gave great foreground interest with moody skies in the background.

The path continued downhill where we picked up the Sheffield Country walk as it passed by part of Dale Dike an Strines Reservoirs. It was a little muddy on the path down here, and so it continued for much of the rest of the walk uphill. And most of the walk back was uphill, which definitely challenged Darrell and Malcolm who had been golfing yesterday.

Again the rain held off, and the walk had only taken us two and a half hours so by the team I got home I had the full afternoon ahead of me, lots of time to prepare for the England game.
