It's been 5 years since we've been down to Dorset, and we returned to Greenwich Cottage in Chideok where we previously stayed in September 2016. And as was the same as last time, it was a trip down with multiple delays. We left home around 9am yesterday and arrived here around 3:15pm; not a great experience.
So on to today. Given that this cottage is only available Friday to Friday, you are disadvantaged by having two full weekend days where most places that you might want to visit, will be busy. Therefore we wanted to keep well away today from anywhere there will likely be crowds.

A walk to Seatown would suffice today, only around 1 mile from the village so a steady start to the week. We headed down there at 10am, trying to keep to the shade on the walk as it was already quite hot and as we walked along the hedge lined tracks there was very little breeze to keep you cool.

We soon reached the lovely clean, red pebbled beach with the tide lapping up against the small pebbles with a lovely 'whoosh' sound as the surf went backwards on each stroke. Our walk took us right up to the end of the beach where we were able to sit on some rocks and we were well away from the building crowds.
Now I hadn't planned to go in the sea other than a paddle, so wasn't dressed as such. However, I stripped down to my pants and went in for a swim. It was so cold, but having been in the sea in Iceland I was well prepared and it was actually rather refreshing.
After an hour or so we walked back down the beach and as it was now lunchtime, and earlier we had noticed the mobile pizza oven setting up, we decided to have one each for lunch. And they were lovely, wood fired, traditional pizzas oozing flavour. Neither of us ate the full one, so we both took half each back to the cottage for tea.
We had thought about going out for a walk later in the day, but instead made do with a couple of sessions sat in the garden, reading, listening and drinking lager and lime. A relaxing second half of the day.
