Seaton - 17th June 2021

Today's weather forecast was a little different to the rest of the week with cloud forecast for much of the day, and even the possibility of a little rain. So we decided to just relax around the cottage.

That said, after a few hours our brains were ticking over and we were thinking of somewhere to go. I had a look on the internet and we had never considered Seaton, just 30 minutes along the coast and back over the border into Devon. We had also discovered that there was a historic tramway from the town, out to the village of Colyton. So we now had somewhere to go.

On route I needed to detour a tad to fill up with fuel for the journey home tomorrow, and also top up the oil as the day before my warning light had popped on. £19 for a container of oil just for a top up!

After parking up in Seaton we headed straight for the tram, and were soon heading inland along the River Axe and though the wetlands which is a honeypot for birdwatchers. The route is only 3 miles and takes around 25 minutes.

The village of Colyton was about a 20 minute walk from the station, so we had a look around before heading back to the station for the return journey. It was great just to sit with the breeze blowing through the open carriage whilst enjoying the views to either side.

We decided to head to the sea-front, but to be honest the forecast for cloud all day was as often is the case, a little wide of the mark. It was hot and sunny, there was nowhere to sit in the shade and neither of us were wearing sun-cream. So after a short walk we headed back to the car to make our way back.

The last thing of note was that we picked up some pizzas on the walk back, the mobile wood fired pizza van that had been in Seatown at the start of the week, was this evening in Travis Perkins car-park in Lyme Regis. A great way to end the week.
