The initial plan for today was to head along the coast to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Dore, but having made a stop in West Bay and felt how warm it was starting to get, we decided to give it a miss. Instead we just sat at the bottom of the garden, reading, listening to the birds and looking out of the fields to the hills as they meet the ocean. And as I had my binoculars with me, watching people in the distance walking the coastal walk.

Our plan though wasn't to spend all day around the cottage, but to take a trip the few miles to Lyme Regis, in my opinion one of the most beautiful resorts on the south-west coast.
We arrived around tea-time, and the plan was to either eat out or grab a take-away to take back to the cottage. Of course, with it being so busy most places had queues waiting for a table, so we later decided to go for the second option.

After parking in the backstreets of the town we headed down to the front and then off along the promenade in the direction of the Cobb. Again, it was quite busy and this evening a little stuffy as some cloud had come over during the day and was keeping the heat in. We just sat on the end of the Cobb for about 30 minutes, watching sailing boats coming in and out of the harbour, and I managed to take a short time-lapse whilst just enjoying the views.
Before heading back we picked up burgers from LBK in the town, half expecting that by the time we had driven back to the cottage and had a shower, that they may be a little worse for wear. But we were pleasantly surprised at both how they had held up, and how nice they were. Not a bad way to end the day.
