Only two days ago it was our 33rd wedding anniversary, which, to be honest these days is quite an achievement, and a very happy one at that.
We had planned to spend yesterday morning walking with Alpacas as a bit of a treat to celebrate our special occasion. However, yesterdays weather put paid to that and the walk was cancelled just a few hours before it was due to start. Which to be honest we were quite pleased about as we didn't really fancy leading the Alpacas around muddy paths in pouring down rain!

But not to waste the whole weekend we decided to head out for a walk today, not out into the hills which would normally be the order of the day, but to the coast. And given that Cleethorpes is only an hour and a quarter away we decided that we could get there at a decent time before the crowds were likely to arrive.
We left home a little before 7am, the forecast for the coast wasn't exactly brilliant, in fact it had gotten worse as each hour passed by but we decided to stick with it and take the risk. And if the heavens opened, well who cares, we would just get wet. And to be honest our gamble paid off as although the skies constantly threatened, the rains never really came apart from the odd shower as the bad weather gods tried their best to get their own way.

Of course, it was fairly quiet as we walked down the beach, past the pier and then around the boating lake before heading back north. As you would expect, by the time we were on our way back people had started to arrive to enjoy their time by the sea - not that you could really see it as it was close to low tide, and if you know that beach it is a long long way out at low tide.
Both of us were a little hungry so just as we reached the promenade we stopped off outside a cafe and tucked into toasted tea-cakes and a drink. A hot one for me and a cold one for Donna - the drinks that is, not the tea-cakes.
As we arrived back at the car we had been out there for 3hrs and walked just over four and a half miles, so not a bad way to spend a Sunday morning.
