Whenever we come to the Yorkshire Coast for a staycation, there are a couple of walks that we always do. One is the walk from Scalby Mills to where the old swimming pool was at the southern end of Scarborough's south bay, a round-trip of 8.1 miles. And today would be that day.
We had another morning around the cottage, pottering around, watching TV and then sitting out soaking up the late morning sunshine. Some people may think that if you're on holiday then you need to be full on every daylight hour, but for us there's as much enjoyment in just taking time out to relax as there is doing something a little more strenuous.

We didn't arrive at Scalby Mills until a little after 1:30pm for our afternoon walk in glorious sunshine, something that had been the case for a couple of weeks now as high pressure is taking control of the weather which is of great pleasure to most people.
There's not really a great deal that I can say about the walk as we have done it so many times before, of course we had to take advantage of the Harbour Bar and it's glorious ice-creams which is always worthy of a mention. Still no sitting inside due to Covid restrictions, but you can still get their speciality ice-creams as they serve them in disposable plastic glasses so Donna was still able to enjoy her favourite; the good old Knickerbocker Glory.

After 4hrs walking we arrived back at the car, a few aches and pains but not too bad. Just the 30 minute drive back up the coast and we would be 'home'.
