Well another lazy morning around the cottage, in fact I didn't arise until 8:30am again and to be honest I could have stayed there for quite a bit longer! Obviously Donna was up with the larks, but then again that's every day.
The weather was still set fair, I can't remember the last time we had any significant rain, so we managed to grab an hour sat outside again. I'm so glad that after considering whether to bother or not, that I put our Lafuma garden chairs in the car before we left. I hadn't expected it to be warm enough to sit outside, but the outdoor area at the cottage is in the sun for most of the day, and also the building keeps the breeze away so it's quite a nice little sun-trap.

We left the cottage at around 12:15pm and headed the 20 minute walk to the bus stop where we jumped on the X93 down the coast to Robin Hoods Bay. It was only a 20 minute ride so by 1pm we were off the bus and heading down the steep slope into the town.
Before setting off walking we stopped on the sea-front and dined on paninis from the beachside cafe. Now time to head off.
We deliberately timed the walk so that it wouldn't be high tide, and this meant that we could walk down the beach towards Ravenscar. The beach wasn't that busy, just a few families enjoying the delights of the rock pools left as the tide went out, and like us a few couples just enjoying the post-lockdown freedom.

After around a mile and a half we turned around and headed back to the town, grabbed an ice-cream as we passed by the bottom of the town and then a quick visit to the beach at the northern end of the bay, before heading back up the steep path to the top of the hill.
Now just, well I say just, the Cinder Track walk back to Whitby; a walk of around 6.5 miles, but a steady one. You get some great views of the sea as you walk along what used to be the train line that passed down the coast to Scarborough, before crossing the main Whitby to Scarborough road where the route takes a steady meander through agricultural fields until arriving back just short of the viaduct next to where our cottage is. So glad to be back, walked around 10.5 miles and 5hrs, so definitely needing to put our feet up.
