Well 5 weeks since we last went out for a proper walk, well I say proper as we have walked very local on a few occasions but the roads just get a tad boring after a while. So today, we drove 10 minutes so still local, and went back to the Chesterfield Canal.

It was a different section to the one 5 weeks ago, we parked in Shireoaks and set off in the direction of Worksop. It's not the most exciting stretch, much of it has a main road running beside it and as you get to the point where we turned around, you are into the outskirts of Worksop so it's starting to get built up.
The weather was almost perfect, at least for us, it was very cold and crisp, the canal in most places was frozen and the air was very fresh. Just as we like it. The colours this time of year are still very drab so not a lot of colour to trigger your imagination, but hey, Spring is around the corner.

As always, Donna gets the reward for spotting the most interesting wildlife on the walk when she noticed a brightly coloured bird swoop over the canal and perch in the tree; it was a beautiful turquoise and orange Kingfisher. A beautiful creature. just a pity it was too far away to get a decent photo.
We were only out for a couple of hours so not much really to write about, but it was just enough to break the monotony of what would be another weekend around the house.
