Last Walk for a While - 31st October 2020

If the rumours coming out of the government are true, then this was going to be the last walk with friends for a while. It's suggested that from some time next week, we will be back with another lockdown, and only allowed to meet one person from another household outside. So best to make the most of it.

So even though the forecast was for a very wet morning, plans just had to be made. Only three of us were available, myself, Tony and to our surprise Darrell. I say to our surprise as it was his 55th birthday yesterday and he had expected to be feeling the after effects of a champagne induced hangover!

We met at 8am just to the north-east of Sheffield, on the dam at Damflask reservoir. Surprisingly given the state of the weather there were quite a few cars already parked there, some I believe would be the rowers who were braving it out on the waters, and some the many runners that we saw whilst out walking.

The planned route was a little over 9 miles, and would take us along the northern edge of Damflask, then through the lovely little village of Low Bradfield, before heading out and around Dale Dyke Reservoir and continuing the loop back to the car.

Even though it was raining, we weren't for the first hour or so getting too wet as we were protected by the autumn coloured foliage, but the next 3hrs the rain was just too heavy for the leaves to provide us with much protection.

By the time we arrived back at the cars we had been walking for a little over 4hrs, and to be honest the wind, rain and mud hadn't taken any shine at all off what was an enjoyable banter filled walk with great mates.
