A Misty Walk - 7th November 2020

If my memory serves me well, today was the first walk with Donna since we came back a week on the Yorkshire Coast. That said, it was only a couple of weeks ago so not exactly a hardship!

Now as a rule, when we go off for a hike we like to set off early to miss the crowds, but today we had a couple of places to go on route so didn't arrive in the Peak District until 9am. So a tad late for us, but probably early for many. We parked at the Haywood car-park at the southern end of the Longshawe Estate; free parking for us as National Trust members.

Our route today was one we have done many times over. Across the road that drops down towards Grindleford, then along Froggatt and Curbar Edges before turning around and returning along the same path. What made today quite a special day was that it was foggy, so as you can imagine the view from up above the valley was stunning.

That said, for half of the 4.5 mile walk the fog even engulfed the ground atop the Edges which made for good photography conditions. No complaints from me.

The only disappointment from the walk was that I hadn't checked the battery on my new camera, and didn't take a spare, so for much of the return route I had to be very sparing with the photos that I was able to take. Thankfully though, the battery didn't completely run out until we were about 20 minutes from the end of the walk.
