Well that didn't finish as planned! - 18th October 2020

Well, what a story...

We were supposed to be heading to Anglesey for a week, it was the week that we had to move due to Covid, from April. However, after the Welsh government proposed a ban for people coming from tier 2 and 3 areas in England, it was at risk. Having chased for a number of days, we were eventually told at 18:45 on the Friday that it was now in Welsh law so we would not be able to travel the following morning. And just to top things off, at 18:30 on the Saturday evening the cottage owners called to see where we were? Clearly Sykes Cottages had not contacted them.

But, as things has started to look really dodgy on the Friday afternoon, I had started making plans so that we could get somewhere for the week. And as luck would have it, Low Moor Cottages near Scalby had just had a cancellation to we quickly made the payment, and would be heading off on Sunday.

I had also ordered a new camera, a Fujifilm X-T4 so before we headed north, we had to drive into Sheffield to pick up the camera, and whilst there we took the opportunity to do our shopping at Waitrose prior to leaving.

There wasn't really anywhere open on the Sunday that we could visit on the way up, and as we had the coast beckoning us all week we didn't want to spend the afternoon there, so we decided to stop off for a few hours in Pocklington see my brother and his partner, at their newly remodelled house.

We left there around 3:30pm, and by 4:30pm we were unpacking the car near Scalby. It wasn't that long however before we headed back out again as a very high tide was promised, so we couldn't miss out on the waves crashing over the north bay. And disappointed we were not, the waves were flinging themselves over the sea wall and over onto the road, and to be honest it was quite a spectacle. Our outing continued for another hour or so as we headed into the main town and spent some time meandering around under the evening lights. Now time for a rest...
