So, I'm still unable to hike or cycle so today the plan was to do something relatively easy going, and what better than a night-time picnic out in the Peak District, with a steady stroll around Curbar Edge with the camera. And as there was a chance that there could be a half-decent sunset that would be a bonus.

We left home around 7pm, arriving at the popular Curbar Gap car-park around 8pm, and being a National Trust car-park we just needed to scan our cards and parking was sorted.
Initially we set off onto Baslow Edge, but the number of places to sit and enjoy the views are a little more limited, so we turned around and walked over the Curbar Edge. It was quite busy up there so we had to walk a distance to find somewhere to 'set up camp', but eventually found a relatively protected spot, and with the fairly strong breeze it was definitely needed. I was glad that I had taken a gilet as well as my windproof jacket!

I spent some time meandering around, taking a few photos whilst Donna listened to music on her phone, but unfortunately the only part of the sky that wasn't clear was just where the sun was setting so my hope for glorious raging skies did not come to fruition. There was a bonus though that the moon rose into the clear sky, and being just a few days from full moon it was quite resplendent.
Donna was sat comfortably on a fleece blanket that we had taken, so I joined her and we tucked into our food and just sat there until darkness fell, just enjoying the fresh air. By 10pm the cloud had started to build so it was clear that there was little point waiting around to enjoy the views of the starry night, so we packed up and headed back to the car for the drive back home.
