Well how did this all happen? It only seems a couple of weeks ago when we were talking about a virus far away in China, with little thought that a few weeks later we would be living under such circumstances. With the current restrictions around social interaction we decided to take what could be our last chance for a while to get out on the hills, and made sure that it was early so as to minimise the chance of bumping into people.
Our alarms were set for 3:30am and by 4:30am we had devoured breakfast and were in the car ready to set off the the Peak District. By around 5:20am we were parked up in a small lay-by not far from Mam Tor and just 30 minutes later were on top of the hill next to the trig point.

There was a promise, ok more of a chance, of a lovely sunrise so I had taken the tripod along with me. However, it was not to be and although when we left home it was clear skies, by the time we were on the hills it had really clouded over. An oh the wind, even if it had been a great sky for photos, the very strong wind would have had something to say!
We took the well trodden path from Mam Tor along the Great Ridge, right until Back Tor when we decided to take the path down the hill so that we could head across to the bottom of the old collapsed road and then head back up the hill.

Now in theory this should have been an easy section to walk, however we came upon multiple areas where the path was very muddy so had to either make a detour or hang onto tree branches for safety, and at one point came upon a fenced off stile which meant that we had to walk atop a falling down wall whilst holding onto barbed wire - very precarious. The gaps between the spikes obviously, we aren't stupid after all.
We eventually made it to the bottom of the old road so now just the mile or so incline back up to the car. Still hardly anyone around as had been the case all the time we had been out, in fact not once did we actually walk close to anyone as they were just figures in the distance. By a little after 9am were were on the road heading back home, now for self isolation.
