Well last night I had a rather good sleep; went to bed at 9:30pm, took me a while to nod off given that the mattress and I were just acquainting ourselves, but then slept through until around 5am. Now I know to some people that may not represent a great night's sleep, to me it wasn't half bad. And as Donna is always up with the Larks I was never going to be the first one ready for breakfast.
And talking of breakfast, I wolfed mine down as I could see a hint of a sunrise as dawn began to break, so I donned some clothes, grabbed my camera and tripod and headed off to the beach. It wasn't the best sunrise I've ever experienced, but far from the worst and some half-decent shots were had.

When I arrived back at the house, Donna was showered and within 30 minutes or so we were back off down to the beach. It was clear, and rather windy so the kite surfers were out in force; something that Beadnell Bay is famous for in these parts. And of course it was time for the telephoto lens, so the camera was extremely busy just trying to catch those special shots. We were there for over an hour until the dark clouds came over the horizon and the spots of rain drifted in through the breeze.

For a couple of hours around lunchtime we made a trip over to Alnwick as we were in need of a mains extension; err Chromecast power obviously. You can't come away without the option of Netflix and YouTube in a winters evening!
It wasn't today's last trip to the beach as mid-afternoon we headed down there again, this time hoping to walk down to towards Nanny's End, however the tide was so far in we had to abandon our plans and spent a couple of hours around the harbour and meandering around the rest of the village. It was just a pity that I hadn't taken up Donna's suggestion of bringing along the tripod as the skies were awesome, a decent amount of colour and all sorts of brooding shades in the skies and filled with great textures. I managed a handful of handheld shots but only as Instagram fodder.
Now just time to head back for homemade soup and crusty bread and a cosy night in. At least that's what happened in the most part. We watched some TV through the evening, and at 10pm Donna looked out of the window before retiring to bed, and like a red rag to a bull she mentioned "clear skies", and 5 minutes later I was off for my fourth visit of the day to the beach.
I spent an hour and a half out in the dark with the camera, maybe not the photos I had hoped for as although it was very clear, you get the glow of the towns down the coast causing some light pollution, plus, there is a rather bright light on the end of the harbour which casts a harsh light over much of the area. That said, fingers crossed that there are a couple of good ones amongst those I took.
