Invites went out to all of my walking buddies, but in the end only the reliable Malc was available. That said, being single and retired there is always much more chance of him being free to join a trip to the Peak District.
Donna wasn't working today, but was at home all prepped to start decorating the trees and putting up the Christmas Decorations; something that I do whatever I can to get out of. That said, it was Donna who suggested that I go walking today so that she could decorate in peace.
Although an early start was not necessary today, the promise of a cold and frosty morning was too tempting so as the clock chimed 7am I was on the road, and by 7:45am myself and Malc were parked up in the small hamlet of Shatton - yes that is it's name!
I had in hope popped my polarizer onto the front of my camera lens, with fingers crossed that we might be met with clear skies to enjoy the views. However it was to no avail as although clear and frosty at ground level, that was not the case up high with limited views in the heavy fog. That said, I can't complain too much as the cold conditions were very much as I like it.
The walk took us around 7.5 miles and with some long uphill stretches, but not too taxing to be honest. And in the 3hrs we were walking the only people we saw was a lady on a horse up on the top of the moor, and two more ladies just setting off up the hill as we were almost back down in the valley. All that was left for me to do was divert through the centre of Sheffield to pick up my new 32" monitor, so a great day all round.
