Reservoir Loop - 31st August 2019

Saturday, Donna at work, friends available, so a walk was the order of the day. Myself, Malcolm and Colin had been lined up for the walk all week long, but late on Friday Darrell came available to join; as long as he was finished by 1pm to go and see Jack play cricket.

We met on the dam wall at Dam Flask Reservoir just before 8:30am, and were soon booted and on our way. The first mile or so would take us along the southern edge of the reservoir so a good time to catch up, in fact much of the time we just took the mickey out of Colin due to the fact that whilst he is working down near Northampton, he is living in a caravan. You can only imagine how many times we called him a gypsy.

The route continued through Bradfield and around Agden Reservoir before we picked up the route through Agden Bridge which took us on a bit of a roller coaster ride up and down hill. As we came back down Agden Side we passed the remains of what I believe from looking at the map was Frost House; a relic of times gone by and a place that would be stunning should you have the money to convert it back to former glories.

The path we had planned to take was harder to find than expected, maybe because there was a much more noticeable commonly used path which ended up following as we chatted to each other maybe not fully concentrating. It knocked about a mile off our walk, but in the end that was probably wise as when we arrived back at the car it started raining.

On our way back to the car we stopped off in a small cafe in Bradfield for a cuppa, a well earned break on the walk. The last section was back along Dam Flask Reservoir and by the time we arrived back at the car we had walked 9 miles, so not a bad morning jaunt.
