Christmas by the Sea - 29th/30th December 2018

Ok, the title of this blog entry is a little misleading as we didn't actually spend Christmas by the sea, unless of course you consider the festive period itself to be Christmas which I have clearly done here

It wasn't something that we had planned to be honest, we'd planned a morning in bed watching some TV as both of us had been working and would also be for much of the New Year week so we fancied recharging our batteries. However, shortly after settling down with breakfast, we decided get ready and head to Scarborough, and not just for a day-trip but for the weekend. So Donna set about finding a hotel room for the night and off we set.

And well the weather, it certainly wasn't what you expect around Christmas and was really nice, plenty of blue skies and sunshine over the weekend. In fact if anything a little too mild if you can say that; I ended up just wearing a t-shirt for part of Sunday!

Over the weekend we covered around 16 miles, and of course on the Sunday that included our traditional Scarborough walk from above Scalby Mills down to the far end of the south-bay and back. A decent length walk and nice and and flat. The human traffic though was a tad busy over the weekend, which I suppose is good to see particularly for the traders.

And we followed some culinary traditions, fish and chips from North Bay Fisheries, ice-creams from the Harbour Bar and a cooked breakfast at Waterfront to start the Sunday. Well when in Rome...

A lovely interlude in the festive period, lots of fresh air which of course if always beneficial, and plenty of miles done to at least try to burn off some of the excess of food that we all scoff over Christmas. And tomorrow back to work, but only for a day.
