Burbage Moor - 28th April 2018

It's great to be getting out and about again in the Peak District, however given the fact that Donna was been working at the weekends, and I'm now on Mon-Fri the walks haven't involved Donna so I have missed walking with my better half. But, I'm sure that when (or if) we start to see some more regular dry weather that we will be able to get out in the hills again.

Today was a little different, I met up with Tony and Darrell, but Tony's wide Judy also joined us, as well as Ted, a dog that belongs a one of their relatives. It was a little different as there was none of the usual childish banter that we have when it's just the fella's, but at least we had someone to keep us in check and make sure we didn't act too much like little kids.

We met at Fox House at 8:30 and headed out along the Sheffield Country Walk path, below Burbage Rocks. It was very dull and cloudy, but not raining which was the case for the 3 or so hours that we were walking. After crossing Upper Burbage Bridge we crossed Cam Height and then up onto the start of Stanage Edge.

As we only had a few hours we only went along a short section of Stanage before we took a path down through the rocks and then headed back and up to Higger Tor enjoying the views in all directions; yes a little hazy but still breathtaking.

On the way back down the hill we had a section of around a quarter of a mile which was very boggy underfoot, in fact at one stage the dog found himself stuck in the mud and panicked a little trying to get out. He was ok though and it didn't seem to bother him that much.

Now just the walk back along the main path and then up the hill back to Fox House - we had covered around 6.5 miles and luck was on our side as we saw no rain, however not long after finishing it started and continued for most of the afternoon!
