Win Hill - 8th January 2018

The plan for today given the fact that the forecast was for clear weather this morning, was to drop Donna off at work and then head out with the camera and much of my gear, and grab some sunrise photos around Ladybower Reservoir; specifically across the 'plugholes' as the reservoir was full and they water release was in full flow.

However, after setting off from the car around 7:30am I decided that I wouldn't bother with a 'photo walk' as other photographers already had the best spots to get the sunrise as a backdrop, and to be honest there were no wispy clouds to give some interest to the sky, just completely clear skies so I wasn't missing much.

And as much of the walk around the reservoir was tree lined, I was unlikely to get any other great shots so I made the decision to turn it into more of a hike, just taking handheld photos as I walked.

So I decided to head up to the top of Win Hill, and not just by the zig-zagging paths, but straight up through the trees in a direct line so far steeper. I won't lie, It was tiring and I was blowing a lot, but I made it to the top by around 9am and had the whole place to myself. Great views in all directions.

By just after 10:30am I was back down at the car and ready to head back home; very refreshed and very happy with my 3hr outing.
