Wet and Cold - 17th January 2018

As is often the case when Donna has a day off in the week, and of course I'm always off at the moment, we head out for a walk. And the forecast didn't deter us in anyway, but did make us change where we went as both the Snake and Woodhead Pass were closed, so we headed around 15 or so miles further down into the Peaks.

I had hoped that there would still be a good covering of snow, but as we approached Curbar Gap car-park it was clear that whilst there was a decent covering, it was quite hit and miss and not that deep. That said it wasn't half cold!

The walk was a steady one, we walked for almost exactly 3hrs, and travelled along Froggatt and Curbar Edge down to the edge of the Longshaw Estate, and then back again. On the way back we'd hoped to drop down a little and follow the path below the edge but there was a torrent of water running down the path so we didn't bother.

We experienced all sorts of weather, we had snow, sleet and hail, and as it was VERY windy the it was like being shot-blasted when the hail came down. Good job we were able to keep much of our faces covered. We love walking in this weather though as you don't have to share the hills with many people, and it's just a great feeling being out in the cold when you are warm and cosy inside. Bloody brilliant.
