Chatsworth Sunrise - 9th December 2017

Normally a post about a visit to Chatsworth might revolve around the house and the gardens, but not this time.

We'd seen that the forecast for the Saturday morning was very promising, and as we had no plans we made the decision to get up early and get out for an early walk. So we were up at 5am, out of the house by 6am, and parked up in Baslow around 7am. Not surprisingly as we headed out of the village and down through the Chatsworth Estate, not another soul did we see.

The plan was that I would spend a little time getting a few sunrise shots over the house, and we would then spend some time walking around the estate. Whilst I managed to get a few decent photos the skies became a little cloudy in patches; specifically where I didn't want them to!

We followed the River Derwent down to Beeley Lodge, having been snowed on a few times as the skies kept threatening, then disappointing. I had hoped that we could head up hill and back onto the top of the estate but the route I had wanted to take was not open to the public so we made an about-turn and headed back north.

As we walked back through the estate we managed to see both Fallow and Red Deer in very good numbers, so that was a bonus. Just a pity that I'd left my telephoto lens back at home when selecting which lenses to take with me.

It was around noon when we got back to the car so we'd had a decent walk, and now just the shopping at Waitrose back in Sheffield and then home.
