Chesterfield Canal - 8th November 2017

Having taken Donna's mum out to the Peak District on the last two occasions that we'd been for a 'Wednesday Walk', today we decided on something a little different and maybe a little less challenging for Dylse. The Chesterfield Canal.

We'd been there earlier in the year (or was it last year?) and walked from Kiveton down to Turnerwood and back, taking advantage of the glorious little coffee shop by the canal basin. So the next section of the canal would be our walk of choice today. Ok, the coffee shop is closed for the winter as this time of year the passing trade is just not there, but still worth the walk.

The 15 minute drive took as to a small parking area close to Rhodesia, from where we would take the canal path through Shireoaks and on to Turnerwood before doing an about turn and coming back; a trip of around 4 miles in total but all nice and flat.

Our luck was in again today with the weather, with glorious sunshine abound giving us a colourful canvas on the still water of the canal - the autumn colours reflecting in the water was beautiful. As often happens I charge ahead, then drop back, then off ahead again whilst looking for something interesting to take photos of, and Donna and her mum have plenty of time to catch up whilst they stroll along the path in the peace and quiet.

Dylse had made up a packed lunch as she always does, but as it was only just coming up to lunchtime as we made our way along the last section of the walk we decided to eat when we got back to our house. Now to plan for the next section along the route....
