A late change to our plans for today, not by choice, but enforced. We were going to park in Goathland and then on a bit of a hike taking in a couple of waterfalls, one we had visited a few years ago, one would be new to us. However, when we arrived in Goathland it was packed to the rafters, cars and coaches everywhere you looked, and the only parking spaces were those where people had parked right up against the white lines. So you could get the car in, but then you couldn't get out of the car.
So after driving around for 10 minutes looking for somewhere we could leave the car, we gave up and headed to Sandsend. A bit of a wasted hour and a good few miles, but needs must.
We parked up in the car-park at the far end of Sandsend and then headed down the beach to Whitby. The walk is around 5 miles there and back, but it's one we have done so many times before, so really not much to put in this blog and just a few photos taken. The weather was gorgeous, sunny, but also quite a bit of cloud around driving up the humidity, combining to remind us why we aren't fans of warm weather.
After having our sandwiches on the top of West Cliff in Whitby, we grabbed an ice-cream and some bakery items from Booths, then headed back up the coast. It was time to remove our boots so we could walk all the way back with the sea lapping out feet to help keep us cool. It was close to 4pm so we didn't venture anywhere else, just straight back to the cottage for a well earned shower. And for me, I was so tired I was in bed at 8pm with Donna not far behind.
