Walk: 12pm to 3:15 pm - 4.5 miles and 450ft of ascent
Back in December after our 'works do' Donna came up to Wakefield and picked me up, and we made a day of it by visiting Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Both of us were quite surprised as to how big the place was, so focused on the part of the park where the vast majority of the sculptures were situated. The decision was made to leave the rest of the park until another day.
Well today was that day, and as a bonus I had a Livingsocial special offer which saved us £12 on the cost of parking and brunches; result. Normal price just over £28, we got the deal for £16.
The forecast was for rain to ease off, and in the afternoon a mix of cloud with the odd break., but thankfully no rain. So at 10am we headed up the M1, went for our brunch so at mid-day were ready to head off around the parkland.
The path we took saw us walk around the perimeter of the park, then down the far side and across the southern bank of the lake. The paths were very muddy in places, we were thankful for plenty of trees to grab hold of to keep us from ending up face down in the mud.
Apart from the uphill section early on in the walk, it was steady walking apart from the already mentioned mud, but a really enjoyable walk of just over 3hrs.
