Well we can't say that we weren't warned. We awoke this morning to extreme wind and horizontal rain lashing across the fields; it's great being out in the open countryside but when the weather is bad, you certainly know about it! But, we knew it was coming and we have books, we have games, we have magazines, and of course as it's the 21st century we also have Netflix, Youtube, Sky Go....and not forgetting the media that you now see referred to on Antiques Roadshow, terrestrial TV. Ah the memories....
We weren't going to risk Donna going out in this weather today after last night's visit to Bangor Hospital where she was given antibiotics after having it confirmed that she is suffering from Tonsilitis on top of the heavy cold that she's had for a good few weeks. The Welsh version of a 'walk in centre' is an OOH service at a hospital, and to be honest it was a great service and as a bonus medication is free here in Wales. So, we would have a cosy log warmed morning in the cottage and then maybe head out somewhere under cover later today.
There really was no improvement in the weather, so it was going to be a day around the log burner with the TV. Our only venture out of the cottage was the drive to the Bodnant Welsh Food Centre to peruse their local produce and stock up on some food for today and tomorrow. I'm like a kid in a candy store in such places, I could if sense didn't prevail (ok Donna keeps me under control) purchase almost everything that is on sale in the shop, but I did hold back and we purchased just enough of a selection to ensure that we could have a lovely buffet by the fire when we got back, and still have enough for lunch on Wednesday.
So not really much else to say, we spent the rest of the day just chatting, reading, watching TV, surfing the internet and looking outside of the window at the wind and rain as is lashed across the fields and mountains. I lie a little as I did spend 5 minutes outside in the wind and rain when I ran IN MY PYJAMAS down to the postbox on the lane near the cottage to pop a postcard in there for Donna, sounds easy but you try finding a postbox when it's pitch black, oh to have taken a torch. Roll on tomorrow...
