No we haven't suddenly crossed the Atlantic to the famous Orlando waterpark, but the title could certainly describe the weather today on the Northumberland coast. We awoke to drizzle and some decent gusts of wind, but over the next 8 hours it was wild, with BBC reporting gusts of over 80kph. It was actually great to just chill out in the cosy cottage and listen to the winds outside as we both love stormy weather.
As we were expecting an afternoon lull we made the decision to eat our main meal of the day at lunchtime, and, we went one further and had Sunday lunch a day early. A lovely meal comprising beef, new potatoes, carrots and beautiful M&S cauliflower cheese....yummy.
By 2pm the rain had stopped so we togged up and headed out towards the bay, it was still very windy and the waves were again thronging with kite surfers; perfect weather for those guys and gals with waves tearing up the beach. We headed down the beach before turning back to the harbour and then around the headland. After watching the 2012 Time Team DVD in the cottage about the dig they undertook on Ebbe's Nook, of course we had to have a gander at the now overgrown remains of the trenches that they dug.
After 2hrs and just over 3.5 miles of walking we deposited ourselves backs at the cottage, just as the rain returned. We had planned not to go back out, however as the weather cleared and blue sky took over the vista we snacked on a couple of slices of toast and then headed back out at 6pm for another walk. And we were rewarded, the weather was gorgeous and we had a stunning sunset; both of our cameras were well worked until the sun went down. At 8pm we arrived back at the cottage having walked another couple of miles; this time we would be staying in.
